Areas of scientific activity

The Department of Biological Chemistry conducts research within the research of the National Pharmaceutical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine “Cellular and molecular mechanisms of development and correction of pathological conditions” 0115U000966, which includes the following activities:

  • preclinical study of mechanisms of development and ways of correction of proatherogenic and dyslipidemic states;
  • biochemical mechanisms of formation of pathologies caused by the formation of oxidative stress, as well as assessment of the prospects for the use of compounds that exhibit antioxidant activity in order to correct these conditions;
  • preclinical comprehensive studies of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance syndrome, diabetes mellitus, endothelial dysfunction and complications of diabetes mellitus and hyperglycemic conditions;

The results of research in these scientific areas are published in leading scientific journals and reported by employees of the department at scientific forums of various levels.

In particular, the head of Biolodical Chemistry Department Assoc. prof. Kravchenko G.B., prof. Zagayko A.L., Ph.D. biol. Sciences Briukhanova T.O. are full members of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). In 2019, Anna Kravchenko participated in the 87th EAS Congress held in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
