On 16 October 2024, a scientific and practical seminar ‘Balanced Nutrition as a Component of a Healthy Lifestyle’ was held to mark World Health Day. The purpose of the event is to promote the concept of healthy and rational nutrition.

On 16 October 2024, a scientific and practical seminar ‘Balanced Nutrition as a Component of a Healthy Lifestyle’ was held to mark World Health Day. The purpose of the event is to promote the concept of healthy and rational nutrition.
The event was attended by more than 200 representatives of higher education institutions, professional higher education, general secondary education, research institutions, and practical medicine and pharmacy.
The seminar began with a welcome speech by Professor Inna VLADYMYROVA, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, in which she noted that the World Healthy Eating Day was introduced to disseminate information and raise people’s awareness of healthy eating. An informational video was also presented by the members of the Student Scientific Society (SSS): Yevheniia Komissarova, a student of the Laboratory Diagnostics study programme, and Svitlana NOSOVA and Vladyslava Mikhno, the chairperson of the SSS, 2nd year students.
The seminar presented reports on the following issues:
HACCP – an effective tool or a burden. Peculiarities of implementation in the Ukrainian market – Kristina KRIVONOS, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Hygiene and Social Medicine, School of Medicine, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Director of the municipal enterprise ‘Sanepidservis’ of the Kharkiv City Council.

What does nutrition science study, who are nutritionists and what do they do?’ – Oleg SHVETS, PhD, Professor, Head of the Department of Public Health and Nutrition at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, President of the Association of Nutritionists of Ukraine, Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of the highest category, Doctor of Gastroenterology, Doctor of Nutrition.
The basics of healthy eating. Sugar, salt and trans fats are dangers we may not be aware of, – Mykhailo Bibikov, nutritionist at the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance (Monitoring) and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, Kharkiv Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Nutritional support for palliative care patients, – Valentyna Nesterenko, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management, Kharkiv National Medical University.
Basic principles of healthy eating. Nutrition under stress, – Svitlana Svichkar, endocrinologist, nutritionist, medical psychologist.
The presented reports aroused great interest and discussion.
The seminar ended with a summary and words of gratitude to the participants and speakers.
