On December 12, 2024, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Microbiology and Biological Chemistry of the National University of Pharmacy held a scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the World Universal Health Coverage Day, “LABORATORY DIAGNOSTICS AS A NECESSARY COMPONENT OF MEDICAL SERVICES”.

Universal health coverage means that all people have access, without discrimination, to comprehensive and quality health care services when needed, without experiencing financial hardship. Universal health coverage includes the full range of essential health services, from health promotion to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care throughout life. Currently, laboratory diagnostics is one of the most informative research methods in medicine, and its results are a decisive factor in choosing treatment tactics for most diseases.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of modern laboratory diagnostics, practical training of higher education institutions in this area, peculiarities of laboratories in wartime, advantages of new methods of laboratory diagnostics, in particular in transplantation, methods and possibilities of cytological diagnostics in oncology, prospects for the use of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays in the clinic of internal medicine and innovative automatic methods of analysis in cytology, laboratory studies of environmental factors.
The event was attended by 46 people, including practitioners in laboratory diagnostics, students majoring in 224 Technologies of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment, and teachers of the department.
