On 22 March 2025, the Department of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Microbiology and Biological Chemistry of the National University of Pharmacy hosted the V Scientific and Practical International Conference ‘Microbiological and Immunological Research in Modern Medicine’.
The conference topics included topical issues of pharmaceutical microbiology, prospects for the development of antimicrobial drugs and their use in medical practice, study of antibiotic resistance of microorganisms and identification of ways to overcome it, clinical pathophysiology of infectious diseases, epidemiology of infectious diseases, clinical immunology and allergology, immunological, virological, molecular genetic studies in laboratory diagnostics, prospects for the development of immunobiological drugs. The materials of the scientific and practical conference also addressed issues of modern biotechnology, microbiological aspects of phytopathology, pharmacological correction of infectious pathology, pharmaceutical care in the use of antimicrobial drugs, the role of the pharmacist (clinical pharmacist) in ensuring the rational use of antibiotics, optimisation of technological processes for the development of chemotherapeutic and chemoprophylactic agents for infectious diseases, topical issues of veterinary microbiology, information technology and automation of scientific research on the development of antimicrobial drugs, marketing research of the modern pharmaceutical market of chemotherapeutic drugs.
Particular attention was drawn to the possibilities of using silver nanoparticles against Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in planktonic and biofilm forms as one of the leading areas in the development of antimicrobial drugs, methods of purification and determination of the properties of elastase obtained from bacillus licheniformis, prospects and problems of introducing the latest rapid technologies for laboratory diagnosis of diseases (so-called Point-of-Care Testing) in human clinical activities and the healthcare system. The issues of vaccination against such diseases as pertussis and HPV were actively discussed.
