🧬Every year on April 25, the planet celebrates a scientific holiday – International DNA Day. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the date of publication in the British journal Nature of information on the discovery of the DNA macromolecule, which took place on this day in 1953. The event was first celebrated in 2003.

The molecular structure of DNA stores genetic information. The discovery of the DNA helix made it possible to establish hereditary relationships, find genetic risks, develop genetic engineering technologies, etc. DNA became known to the world thanks to the work of such scientists as D. Watson, M. Wilkins, F. Crick and R. Franklin.

📍The purpose of the International DNA Day is to draw humanity’s attention to the importance of the discovery of the DNA molecule, to spread scientific development, to thank biochemists, geneticists, and biologists.

⚡️Освітня and the scientific community of the National University of Pharmacy traditionally celebrate the discovery of the chemical structure of DNA, which is recognized as one of the most outstanding biological events of the twentieth century. Thanks to the historical scientific achievements of scientists, the development of a new field of natural sciences – molecular biology – began.
